Copywriter

Part of the Content and Community team and reports directly to the Creative Group Head

“A picture paints a thousand words,” they say. A C27 copywriter is a communicator, master chameleon, idea factory, and delightful interaction champion. Most of all, you are provocative; you do not easily succumb to the status quo. Your home is outside the box. Why can’t a word paint a thousand pictures?

 

Department Summary – “It’s just a show!”, fairy dust, pull a rabbit out of the hat, curtains close, exit stage left, fade to black. The biggest misconception when it comes to defining creativity is it’s synonymous with magic. It’s not. Creativity is making connections between variables that didn’t seem like they were there. We juxtapose seemingly random elements to create new meaning. 

 

Contrary to popular belief, we do not simply “pluck ideas from the air” or pull a rabbit out of a damn hat. As a C27 Creative, you are a champion of empathy. From brand campaigns to video production, we understand that human beings are ALWAYS the key beneficiaries of our work. We celebrate individualism and personalisation; we empathise with our unique audience  – one size will never fit all. You are a master builder as much as you are an expert assembler. We expect you to be able to tell a story with a camera, just as much as a pen and paper. A “What If-er”. Curiosity is your currency. Use it well, leave the rest to the finance team.

 

Key traits – Detail-oriented, reader, clarity, concise, strong vocabulary, nuanced, curious, imaginative.

 

Requirements – Min 1.5 years of serving creative functions in an organisation or equivalent, T3 majority portfolio, to manage up to 2 junior copywriters, intermediate level competency or certification in the relevant subject matter (design, copy, user experience, production, content creation, art direction, analytics, social media).

Primary Responsibilities


Marketing & New Business

  1. Be involved in new business/pitches.
  2. Work together with seniors to apply compelling concepts and narratives to strategic insight to create and bring life ideas for proposals.

 

Client Management

  1. To be able to liaise with tier 4 clients and rationalise copy (if required)
  2. To be able to present to tier 4 clients.

 

Creative Excellence

  1. Able to create original, persuasive and conceptually compelling work across multiple clients and channels.
  2. Maintain copy and creative integrity whilst incorporating client changes.
  3. To be able to incorporate SEO recommendations into content development (if required). 
  4. Develop strong user personas and target audience profiles to enhance our creative offerings.
  5. Write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy that is on-brand.
  6. Ensure consistency of brand voice across multiple channels. 

 

Collaborate with Others

  1. Work alongside other creatives during ideation sessions to create exciting concepts and ideas.
  2. Collaborate closely with the designer during creative development to ensure synergy between copy and design.
  3. Develop User flows and User Journeys for web development projects, working closely with the designer and project manager (the working team).

 

Project Management & Coordination

  1. Manage and ensure tasks are delivered on time, working closely with the Project Management Team.
     
  2. Maintain communications with appropriate internal agencies and client personnel under a senior’s supervision to ensure positive workflow, escalating exceptions, and client issues as required.
  3. Ensure a smooth working process internally with each department.

Creative Check-Ins

  1. To initiate in assisting/mentoring subordinate & peers in completing tasks.
  2. Regular check-ins with seniors to ensure general happiness and issues are being brought up.
  3. Stay current with popular culture and trends and share knowledge with the creative team.

 

Internal Initiatives

  1. To work closely with others to execute & drive special internal projects as initiated by the CEO.
  2. Keep an eye on awards/case study work across the C27 portfolio of clients.
  3. To consistently improve internal systems for higher productivity and efficiency.
