Lead Strategist
Purpose — “Explorer, hunter, gatherer, planner, time traveller, debater, researcher. The cerebral front line of the C27 collective.”
Requirements
- Min 9-12 years of experience serving creative and/or media functions in an organisation or equivalent.
- Experience managing a team would be a plus.
- Proven expertise in paid performance marketing, including campaign planning, execution, and optimization for high-value portfolios (>RM500k).
- Possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration and Finance, Communications, Media, Statistics, or relevant degree or certification.
- Working knowledge of Facebook, Google, LinkedIn Ad platforms, Paid Performance (and other major search, display, video and social tools).
- Intermediate knowledge of analytical tools such as Google Data Studio, Tableau, Emplify, Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel. Basic knowledge of Google Workspace ( Doc, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Excellence
Build a strong understanding of your clients’ business challenges and goals.
Take a proactive approach to problem-solving, developing hypotheses and actionable insights from data sets related to everything from eCommerce shopping carts to online video.
Understand the client’s audiences, objectives, and priorities, and lead the definition of solutions to meet these needs.
Provide strategic direction on product, experience, and/or communications initiatives, identifying the key value propositions, consumer needs, and value to the business.
Identify key opportunities to drive client value and collaborate with clients to add value to their business and educate them on digital marketing excellence.
Be proactive, challenge with effective debate, and identify what the agenda for future discussion should be.
Plan and lead client educational workshops on methodology, approach, industry terms towards performance marketing workshops and research sessions.
Craft compelling narratives in presentations and to influence your findings of performance to internal stakeholders and external parties (e.g. agency, vendors or publishers).
Strategy Leadership
- Mentor, encourage, foster and support intelligent innovation and risk-taking to create and deliver business models that improve the consumer interaction and experience with the product and provide the best financial performance to the business.
- Inspire and ensure that the whole experience team produces compelling and industry-leading work.
- Help lead our talented junior and midweight strategists, including line management responsibilities where possible, taking charge of major projects.
- Takes a leadership role when working or presenting work to clients
- Ensure that you are the source of inspiration for your team.
- Create a balanced environment for your team to fail safely.
- Lead and manage a team of strategists in the development and delivery of strategy solutions across multiple clients and platforms.
- Accountable for the final development and production of strategy assets.

- Offer client and team members innovative advice and solutions from industry examples and experience
- Help organize, maintain and oversee strategy standards and guidelines

Department Leadership
- Assist the Strategy Director in identifying and setting department goals and direction that are aligned with company goals.
- Consolidate and analyze reports/feedback from team members, ensuring the data is well presented for the Strategy Director to present during leadership meetings.
- Participate in budget development and monitor the department budget as approved by management (including vendors, recruitment, training, and internal department events) together with the Strategy Director while keeping the budget to a minimum for the company’s betterment.
- Review, update, direct, ensure, and enforce the department’s internal processes and/or SOPs to align with the company/department playbook and project blueprints.
- Monitor, review, update, and ensure effective utilization of human resources (including the number of personnel, employee development needs, promotions, and project allocation) to realize company goals.
- Assist the Strategy Director in working with the Head of People to create a people strategy and plan that delivers on current and future business objectives
Team Leadership
- Being the go-to senior when the Strategy Director isn’t available.
- Inspire and guide team members to enhance their skills and thought processes, acting as a secondary mentor and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Suggest and implement new workshops or short-courses to support the professional development of team members, ensuring they stay updated with the latest industry practices and tools.
- Keeping the team in tune with new and/or current practices and trends.
- Regular check-ins to ensure the general health and welfare of the team.
High Performance Execution
- Set the strategic direction for the development and optimization of large-scale acquisition campaigns across all digital channels.
- Lead comprehensive monitoring and analysis efforts, utilizing advanced data analytics to inform strategic decisions and optimizations.
- Develop and oversee the creation of strategic reports and dashboards, providing executive-level insights and actionable recommendations.
- Work with the Business Intelligence team to complete reporting requirements: market and competitive insights, digital media buying tactics, proof of activity, acceptance as required.
- Strategically plan full-funnel tactics across multiple digital activations, integrating advanced targeting and segmentation strategies.
- Lead the strategic implementation of campaigns across various industries, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Lead the team in maintaining relevant certifications and staying updated with industry best practices.
- Drive collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders, ensuring that acquisition goals are strategically met.
- Lead the development and presentation of strategic insights to senior-level clients, utilizing advanced storytelling and data visualization techniques.
- Deliver strategic and effective communication with all stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and engagement.
- Oversee the configuration and deployment of advanced website tagging and analytics tools, ensuring accurate data capture and analysis.
Strategic Direction & Problem Solving
- Drive strategic vision for the business, identifying key opportunities and challenges in the market.
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance business outcomes.
- Champion the overall Marketing Calendar and Content Strategy, ensuring strategic coherence and consistency across all initiatives.
Research, Analytics, Planning, Deployment
- Lead the development of strategies for sales attribution and follower acquisition campaigns on digital channels including Search, Display, Mobile, and Social.
- Oversee the review, analysis, planning, influencing, and consulting with brands and partners based on data-driven decision-making for campaigns and activations.
- Provide advanced insights and potential workarounds for campaigns.
- Manage the preparation of detailed reports and dashboards to deliver actionable insights to clients and management.
- Conduct comprehensive research and gather insights from the market and competitive landscape, focusing on consumer behavior.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of data-driven insights to senior clients, utilizing advanced data visualization and storytelling skills.
Stakeholder and Partner Management
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with agency partners, including Media, Brand, Creative, and Research, ensuring their contributions align with acquisition objectives.
- Establish communication protocols and frameworks to ensure consistent and effective messaging to clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Lead cross-agency collaboration, ensuring that all partners are aligned with the overall strategy and working synergistically towards common goals.
Client Management
- Cultivate high-level relationships with senior client executives, positioning the company as a strategic partner.
- Drive the development of comprehensive strategic plans that align with clients’ long-term business objectives and market trends.
- Offer strategic advice on optimizing business processes, leveraging extensive industry expertise and data-driven insights.
- Facilitate strategic meetings with clients, focusing on business growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead the resolution of complex client issues, coordinating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
- Develop and execute strategies for up-selling and cross-selling, aligning these efforts with clients’ strategic goals.
- Ensure comprehensive contract management, including compliance monitoring, negotiations, and adjustments as needed.
Account Retention & New Business Conversion
- Sustain and retain existing accounts.
